"Entrepreneur Friendly" Initiative

The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s (GDEcD) Small Business & Innovation Division provides a community-based program that helps create an entrepreneur environment, building entrepreneur and small business strategy into the community’s overall economic development strategies.

The GDEcD Regional Project Managers-Entrepreneur & Small Business (RPM-ESB) will take a community through proven methods designed to establish an entrepreneur support program, help them better understand their existing entrepreneur environment and develop sustainable, effective local strategies.

On November 8th, 2007, Polk County became a certified “Entrepreneur Friendly” Community. Georgia’s “Entrepreneur Friendly” Initiative assists the state’s counties in cultivating business environments that develop and encourage entrepreneurs and small businesses. Through the Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Polk County Chamber of Commerce, a strong committee of interested persons chaired by Chamber board members, Laron Maloney and Mary Miller, was formed to begin work on this effort to offer resources to local businesses and future businesses that locate in Cedartown and Polk County. This process will also benefit our local business leaders to be better equipped to meet business owners’ current and future requirements.
